Job Interview Tips

An interview gives you the opportunity to showcase your qualifications to an employer, so it pays to be well prepared. The following information provides some helpful hints.

Preparation:

* Learn about the organization.
* Have a specific job or jobs in mind.
* Review your qualifications for the job.
* Be ready to briefly describe your experience, showing how it relates it the job.
* Be ready to answer broad questions, such as “Why should I hire you?” “Why do you want this job?” “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
* Practice an interview with a friend or relative.

Personal appearance:

* Be well groomed.
* Dress appropriately.
* Do not chew gum or smoke.

The interview:


* Be early.
* Learn the name of your interviewer and greet him or her with a firm handshake.
* Use good manners with everyone you meet.
* Relax and answer each question concisely.
* Use proper English—avoid slang.
* Be cooperative and enthusiastic.
* Use body language to show interest—use eye contact and don’t slouch.
* Ask questions about the position and the organization, but avoid questions whose answers can easily be found on the company Web site.
* Also avoid asking questions about salary and benefits unless a job offer is made.
* Thank the interviewer when you leave and shake hands.
* Send a short thank you note.

Information to bring to an interview:

* Social Security card.
* Government-issued identification (driver’s license).
* Resume or application. Although not all employers require a resume, you should be able to furnish the interviewer information about your education, training, and previous employment.
* References. Employers typically require three references. Get permission before using anyone as a reference. Make sure that they will give you a good reference. Try to avoid using relatives as references.
* Transcripts. Employers may require an official copy of transcripts to verify grades, coursework, dates of attendance, and highest grade completed or degree awarded.

What do you do when you see or hear that your ideal job is up for grabs? What you don’t do is just drop in unannounced, leave your curriculum vitae with the company or demand to meet the person in charge. The proper thing to do is to write an application letter first to introduce yourself to a likely employer. This way, you can highlight your qualifications, arrange for an interview and convince the reader to hire you.

The letter should be simple and easy to read, reflecting the professionalism of the sender-you! To write clearly and state your business in the fewest possible words, follow this three-step outline:

Introduction

Begin by announcing your intention to apply for the position. State where or how you learned of the opening.

Body

Document your qualifications and skills. Enumerate accomplishments, significant work and educational experience in logical order.

Conclusion

Affirm your willingness to be interviewed. Thank the reader for considering your application and ask him to look at your resume (which should be submitted with the letter) and other valid documents.

You may follow up an application if your initial letter has not been acknowledged or if you do not receive feedback after an interview. An inquiry would remind the reader of your recent communication, reiterate your interest in the available position and keep your identity alive in the employer’s mind.

In your subsequent letter, mention the date and nature of the previous exchange or meeting. Point out your suitability for the job and talk about your continued interest in the position. End your note by requesting permission to keep in touch and express hope of a response. Offer your contact information (address, telephone numbers and email address) again lest your documents be misplaced and so that company representatives can easily reach you.

1. PROCESS OPERATORS

2. UTILITY OPERATORS

3. POWER OPERATORS

Applicants should have at least 6 years of experience in operating and monitoring Gas Turbines with DLN Technology, Frame V/VI GE turbines and generators, Boilers and heat recovery steam generators. Mark V/VI speedtronic control system, Fire and gas system, Electrical network control system, Emergency response.

In addition, candidates for all 3 roles above must meet the following competency

• High aptitude with Safety Management Systems
• High level of competency in relationship AND team building including communicative skills in English Language between peers.

4. FIELD OPERATORS - STORAGE AND LOADING

Ini Dia... Cara Hadapi Bullying Kerja!

Bullying di lokasi kerja memang cukup mengganggu produktivitas kerja seseorang. Selain membuat pekerjaan tidak bisa dinikmati,bullying juga bisa mendukung munculnya depresi.

Seseorang yang mendapat perlakuan bullying cenderung lebih rentan depresi. Selain menguras pikiran, energi pun bisa tervorsir pada pekerjaan. Bullying umumnya terjadi dari senior ke junior. Oleh karenanya, banyak yang kemudian hanya diam dan menerima perlakuan tidak menyenangkan tersebut. Namun tak sedikit pula yang tidak tahan dan akhirnya berpikir untuk resign.
Meski begitu, sebenarnya bullying bisa diantisipasi lho. Bagaimana caranya? Menurut Recruitment and Assessment Supervisor PT Toyota Sales Operation (Auto2000) Galuh Ajeng Sanristia, atau yang biasa dipanggil Ajeng, bullying bisa diantisipasi dengan mengenali deskripsi pekerjaan dengan baik. Langkah ini bisa ditempuh di awal Anda diterima bekerja. Tanyakan pada atasan Anda apa saja yang menjadi tugas Anda di perusahaan tersebut.
Namun bagaimana jika bullying sudah terlanjur Anda dialami? Simak tip-tip berikut.
 
  • Pahami tujuannya
Tak jarang senior memberikan tugas tambahan di luar jobdesc Anda selama ini. Namun jangan lantas mencap diri Anda sedang mendapat perlakuan bullying ya? “Ketika ada yang memerintah, lihat dulu sebenarnya apa tujuan dia melakukannya,” terang Ajeng. Apakah itu sekadar permohonan bantuan atau Anda sedang mendapat penekanan kerja berlebih? Karena menurut Ajeng, ada pula senior yang memberikan tugas tambahan untuk menguji kesiapan mental juniornya. Oleh karenanya, kenali karakter atasan dan rekan kerja Anda dengan baik.
  • Bersikap aktif
Beberapa orang yang mendapat perlakukan kurang menyenangkan di tempat kerja lantas menjadi sosok yang  pendiam dan minder, walau tak sedikit juga yang tak bertindak demikian. Bagi kasus yang pertama, Dessanggi Ayu Frananda Budiman atau Anggi, Assistant Analyst Pendidikan dan Pelatihan PT PLN (Persero) Distribusi Jateng dan DIY menyarankan Anda untuk tetap bersikap aktif. “Jangan berdiam diri dan meratap, hilangkan minder,” ujarnya.
Anda bisa pro aktif dengan mengikuti kegiatan di kantor. “Perbanyak komunikasi dan sharing dengan yang lebih senior,” demikian disampaikan Ajeng. Dengan memperbanyak komunikasi dengan rekan-rekan lainnya, Anda bisa memperkaya informasi tentang kondisi kantor Anda. semakin banyak teman di kantor juga akan memungkinkan Anda merasa lebih bahagia. Mengapa? Karena semakin banyak orang yang bisa Anda jadikan tempat berbagi pikiran.
  • Pilih orang yang tepat
Jika bullying sudah sedemikian membuat Anda tidak nyaman dalam bekerja, bahkan sampai melecehkan harga diri, berceritalah pada senior dari atasan Anda. Namun jangan jadikan momen ini sebagai ajang balas dendam. Karena balas dendam justru membuat atasan Anda saat ini semakin jengkel pada Anda. “Pintar-pintar saja dalam mengkomunikasikannya,” ujar Ajeng.
  • Tetap berpikir positif
Menolak pekerjaan tambahan yang dirasa bukan menjadi jobdesc utama bisa Anda lakukan. Apalagi jika jobdesc utama memang sedang menuntut perhatian lebih. Namun jika Anda merasa senang melakukan tugas tambahan dan sedang tidak dikejar deadline, bisa juga memilih sebaliknya. “Kurangi perasaan negatif, jika memang tidak bisa ya belajar. Itu merupakan kesempatan untuk belajar,” terang Anggi. Karena bisa jadi, tugas tambahan diberikan sebagai bagian dari seleksi atasan kepada bawahan barunya terkait kemampuan beradaptasinya dalam bekerja.
